Sports Bras Are Different

Why not use a regular bra for sports activity?  Well we will explain here.

The brassiere which more often is called a bra, is an article of undergarment that covers, supports, and elevates the breasts. In the late 19th century the corset performed this duty.

Naturally women wear bras for a variety of purposes, such as support, for improving the shape of their breasts, to reduce or to enlarge the perceived breast size or to restrain breast movement during an activity such as during exercise,

This is where the sports Bra becomes a favorite choice.  With exercise the unrestrained breasts move about freely with the movement of the body.  Some women, particularly those with large breasts, may find such excessive movement painful or embarrassing.

One problem that might arise is from the shoulder straps of a standard bra. The standard well-fitting bras are constructed in the form of a square frame, with all dimensions adjusted for each woman in a normal standing position, with arms to the sides.

When a woman performs an activity which requires her to lift her arms above the shoulders, the frame is strained because it is anchored by the chest band, putting direct pressure on the shoulder trapezius muscles. This may result in neck and shoulder pain, numbness and tingling in the arm and headaches.

The most comfortable sports bra is one that the athlete does not even think about.  It fits firm and snug and reduces all of the unnecessary bobbing around of the breast tissue.

You will find choices here on this site that will make it very clear to understand why sports bras are different.
